We're proud to share that the Cortina Glider Recliner has been named a 2026 Best of the Year Award winner by Best of the Year Media. The Cortina is the newest member of our glider family. We designed it for the long nights of feeding, rocking and reading, and for every year after the nursery. It's wonderful to see an independent panel of judges and parents agree.
Why the Cortina won
The judges singled out five things.
• Comfort without compromise. The Cortina pairs plush cushions with real support: a high ergonomic back, arms set at the right height for cradling a baby, and a matching lumbar pillow. Judges noted it feels soft without swallowing you up.
• Recline, minus the bulk. The recline mechanism is tucked out of sight. Choose a discreet manual handle or cordless motorized controls, and enjoy a 360-degree swivel and smooth glide.
• A built-in safety stop. When you recline, the chair automatically stops gliding, so your attention stays on your baby.
• Healthier materials. The Cortina is UL GREENGUARD Gold certified for low chemical emissions. Its foam meets CertiPUR-US standards, with no added flame retardants.
• Made to order in Toronto. Every Cortina is bench-made in our own Toronto workshop, in the fabric and base finish you choose. It ships from Canada, not from overseas.
Tested in a showroom, and in a real nursery
Best of the Year's analysts tried the Cortina at a New York showroom. They checked its comfort, glide, recline and swivel, and reviewed our full range of upholstery swatches. They also recruited a tester in her third trimester. She picked her own fabric and base, and her Cortina arrived just before she brought her baby home. She then used it through the newborn weeks for everyday feeding and soothing. One judge who tried it in store liked it so much she wanted one for her own home, no baby required.
Built on twenty years of Monte families
The Cortina is new, but the craftsmanship behind it isn't. Monte has been making gliders for families for 20 years. Parents told the Best of the Year editors stories we love hearing. One family's original Luca glider, a gift when a nephew was born, is now where that same 18-year-old watches movies. Another Monte glider has come through four babies and two international moves and still glides smoothly. That's the idea behind every chair we make. As one judge put it, "It's the kind of piece you keep for years, not just the nursery."
Make it yours
The Cortina starts at $1,895, with motorized recline available as an upgrade. Because each chair is bench-made to order, please allow for production lead time when planning your nursery. The payoff is a chair built exactly the way you want it.
